WP SCHOOLS WATERPOLO IN GOOD HANDS

SACS 5 - Reddam 4
Last night saw the season ending game between SACS and REDDAM u19.

Reddam, winners of the Mezinter Cup earlier this season and SACS who were the runners up entered the final game desperate to end the season on a high and give their matrics a super send off! And it felt like a Cup Final, such was the intensity and pace of the game. Both teams could have snatched this one and it came down to the wire! A special mention must be made of both the teams goalkeepers, Miguel
Espinha(Reddam) and Justin Joubert (SACS) who were simply sensational.

The defensive structures of both sides (coaches Jason Seleno and Paul Martin need to congratulated on the work they have done with their respective sides) saw goals hard to come by and each goal was welcomed with a mixture of relief and a roar of approval from a good sized crowd. Both sides worked extremely hard and tried to swim each other into submission. Taylor Chapman (SACS) was sublime as was Cracker Ash (Reddam). But this is a team game and everyone came to the party.

In the end, tight games like this can come down to something special and so it was with Shane Fourie's drive into the area which drew a 5 metre penalty. Brett Rightford was calm and collected as he blasted the penalty past the Reddam goalkeeper to take a 5-4 lead. But the drama was not over as Reddam gave one last push with 15 seconds on the clock to score an equaliser. It was not to be as the SACS defence stood firm and the curtain came down on a fabulous game of waterpolo.

Well done to both teams. If this is the standard of WP Schools Waterpolo then it is in very good hands.
