PRESS RELEASE - Date: 16 January 2013

MAITLAND SACS WATER POLO NIGHT SERIES FIRST OF ITS KIND IN PROVINCE

Schools water polo in the Western Cape is gaining serious traction with the start of a new event, the Maitland SACS Night Series, on 22 January. The six-week tournament is being held to prepare the province’s U19 boys water polo teams for the major national KES Festival in Johannesburg in early March.

Commenting on the Maitland SACS Night Series, Andre Le Roux, Head of Business Development at corporate sponsor Maitland said: “Western Province Schools have struggled in the recent past at the annual KES Festival. Our schools have identified a need for a pre-KES local tournament and Maitland is supporting this need as part of a R400 000 water polo sponsorship announced last year.”

Doug Schooling, Chairman of Western Province Schools Water Polo: “This six-week tournament will give the players involved in the KES Festival good preparation for what must be the most physically demanding tournament many of them will face and help to determine the pecking order in the Western Cape.”

The Maitland SACS Night Series will be held every Tuesday evening at 18h00 at the SACS top pool in Newlands, from 22 January until 26 February 2013. The following schools will participate:

• SACS
• Reddam
• Rondebosch
• Wynberg
• Paul Roos
• Bishops

Please see the fixtures list on the "Maitland/SACS" page. Results and updates will be posted at www.sacswaterpolo.com
