MAITLAND ANNOUNCES R400 000 sponsorship of schools waterpolo

Western Province Schools Water Polo has received a boost with the announcement of an initial corporate sponsorship to the value of R400 000 over a three-year period.

Maitland, an international wealth and fund services firm, has identified schools water polo as a sport with which it would like to be associated. “Water polo is one of the fastest growing school sports in South Africa and Maitland is impressed with the structures and organisation, particularly in the Western Cape,” said Andre Le Roux, Head of Business Development at Maitland.

For the coming water polo season, Maitland has committed sponsorship to several tournaments in the Western Cape. These include the SACS Junior U13 Tournament, the Rondebosch Boys’ High School U14 Tournament, and the SACS U19 Tournament (see dates below). The SACS U19 Tournament is a highlight of the annual schools water polo calendar, with top teams from around the country participating.

Looking ahead, Maitland will also be supporting the inaugural SACS U19 Boys Water Polo Night Series, which will serve as a warm-up series to the King Edward School (KES) Tournament held in Johannesburg in early March next year. The SACS night series will be played every Tuesday night commencing in January 2013.

The Mazinter Cup knockout finals, to be held in March at Newlands pool, will also fall within the Maitland sponsorship.
